Yellow card vs the Red card

I always fear that our early starter, now a Junior Infant would get any of those cards. I always tell her to be good, listen to your teachers and do what they ask you to do. But she always assures me that she is always good. She even is the most attentive pupil in the class, most hardworking and is always the one who gets the praise. Well, the teachers did prove us that.

The coloured card system works just as the card in a football match. You will get a yellow card as a warning for misbehaving. Two more of that then you will get a red card, which requires the parents and the school principal to meet. I am just happy that though my little girl is grumpy in the house, she knows where to put herself or stand when she is outside or at school. She is well behaved and we do hope that she will continue to be good. Kids are hard to tame when they grow up and start to have a mind of their own. That what we say will always be against to their wants. Fingers cross that we should be able to keep up with the way we discipline our children.

Educating kids at home

We all start learning from home. As a full time Mom, I am glad to have the opportunity to go hands on in letting my eldest learn the important things that she (will) learn/s else where. Being polite, obedient and respectful are my priorities. There are times that tantrums turn everything upside down here, as it is not possible for a child to perfectly do what grown ups want them to do. They do have their own desires and I understand that being a child, she has the right to express whatever she feels.

My five year old is very good at school, as what most teacher say every meetings we attend as per attitude is concern.Say she also does well academically. She does have freedom at times that is why at home she behaves quite differently.

First December snow

Early this morning while waiting for the teachers to collect the kids, they had a bit of play with what we call “the first december snow!”. That wasn’t expected as we have forgotten about snow after it didn’t show in November. That’s the opposite to what we have had the last two years. This time last year, we would have closed the school because roads are impassable and it is pretty dangerous for kids to be let out.

We are bracing now for more snow to come. We are experiencing gusty winds and heavy snowy spills. However, the white ground is not there yet as snow melts as soon as it reaches the ground. We’ll see what’s in store tonight.

Settling in so well

The reason behind the delayed updates would be that we are settling in so well that we forgot to post new things that we learned from our new class. Our teacher recognized our efforts done in the previous years and that has put our little pupil an edge amongst others. I am not bragging but proud. I have not been too pushy for her to learn to read, write or do things her way.
Well,a month has passed and it’s been brilliant. We completed all homeworks that the teacher asked us to do. We did phonics with corresponding drawing of words that start with the letter. The little girl did as being told and all of her drawings are done with less supervision, or with no help at all as it accords to how she sees things. I don’t want to touch her work just because it is her own.

I hope that the following months would be as great as this month. We got green cards that meant we’re extremely good in the class and the school as a whole.

Back to school in a few days

School starts in a few days time and we’re very excited not only because meeting our friend but new ones too. The little girl couldn’t also wait to put on her new uniforms and shoes. There are more good reasons why everyone is excited on the first day of school. First days are always exciting no matter what you are into. Same goes with first experiences too.

Our little girl will be in a room with old classmates mixed with new faces. That would make sense because they need integration.

Butterfly buns

Here is another cup cake baked by our early starter called Butterfyl buns from the recipe book “cooking for girls”.

We could not make the butterfly icing, so for now we can only call it bun. She is into doing what the so-called big girls do. Only that she is not good at tidying up. She does help in cleaning up a little bit when in the mood. As a big sister, she also does not understand that she has to give way to her little sister. When she is doing her arts and some sort of activities, she does not want her little sister participate. This little sister does not understand too that art is not her thing yet. She always ends up writing on walls whenever she gets hold of any pencil or crayons.

For now, we always do what we keep doing. We are into studying how chocolate muffins are done. It is quite tricky and messy and I could not keep up with the mess. She might be the one reading and preparing the ingredients but it is all down to me when washing up comes. Well, I hope she will be great in pastry. The Dad loves it when he comes home and a delicious smell from the oven greets him. What a lovely and beautiful thing to come home to each time his big girl prepares something just for him.

Our early starter’s cupcakes

We found another way of spending the day without a fuss. There are many things to do I say and one thing that sure is interesting is baking. She got her ‘Cooking for Girls’ book on her 4th birthday. We bought it togetther in the shop and it is only used now. She is into cracking eggs, mixing and beating. There is no way that we have pancake without her participating. At least she find interest on things that she will benefit in the future.

Her first cupcake is the Summer Garden Cupcake. It is color green that represents spring time or summer where garden is most of use. It best compliments barbeque or tea party. I do not have any idea how to make the icing as well, so here’s how it looked when we put the icing on top while the cupcakes are still cooling down.

Before

After

Lesson learnt, always obey what is written on the procedure. Good things come to those who wait. Our icing would have looked really nice on top. Anyway, the Dad loved it, we all loved it.

Another output on a rainy day

Day after day rain is unstoppable. After being stucked indoors with nowhere to go, our little starter make good use of her talent through drawing and practice writing. It doesn’t give me a problem at times when I didn’t want them to watch kid’s programs on TV.She just knows what else to do that is worth her time. She is also a brilliant sleeper. She sleeps all through the night and takes a nap in the afternoon. She sometimes need help with her creativity that when she found it hard to figure out something, she wouldn’t hesitate to call me. Mommy is always to the rescue!

Of course, she still has tantrums and her being perfectionist is a big deal. She wasted papers because of a few mistakes in coloring. She wasted papers when she mispelt her name. She wasted papers when she felt that she didn’t deliver a brialliant result. Everthing she does is perfect to us. So I begged  her each time she cried to open her heart, give those mistakes room in there so she’ll be good to cope with such in the future. As one of her teachers said, “She is a very intelligent child”. I hope that she will be when it is needed.

Practice writing

There is nothing much to do in rainy days. Without school life seems to be so boring. We all stayed indoors for the past week with no where to go. I also couldn’t go with the girls to shopping centers because we do have a NOT-so happer camper. I also feel that I cannot manage tantrums anymore. There are two of them and the big girl has her own way of driving me mad.

At least she is into her some sort of acitivities. She finished most of ther basic reading and writing. Except that when the little one starts to fumble around, she quickly changes her attitude and quits. There were also moments where even though she already feels so sleepy, she would deny it and end up sleeping on the table with the papers and pencils.  Only a few times that she goes to bed by her own.

One time, it happened that she forgot to keep her things aside.Only for me to discover that it was too late as the little hands were on it, here is the photo;

I blame no one for that. She left it on the table and it was I who should have made sure that it is safe from anyone than her.
